Happy Brave New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I pray that this year will be filled with “God-given wisdom, knowledge and strength in the areas you need it most”, as in my 2022 recap blog post (click here and scroll to the bottom for more).

I named this post “Happy Brave New Year” because I would like to share a song with you. You may / may not know it. it’s called “You Make Me Brave” and it came to mind during a time of prayer. For me the part that stands out is “You call me out beyond the shore into the waves”, because it highlights that God wants to lead us deeper and more spacious places in our everyday. Into unfamilar territory or paths not known (ref: Isaiah 42:16 NIV & NKJV). Whether it’s reconciling with a family member, putting ourselves forward for a promotion, figuring out boundaries and morals, taking a leap of faith, etc. All of these things may seem unfamilar and uncomfortable, or even weighty, huge and scary, especially when we don’t know or can’t control the outcome, i.e. the waves. However at the end of the day God is with us and for us, and will guide us through the uncertainty and gravity.

I really hope the song blesses you. I have added the lyrics below the video , which are also in the descriotion of the actual YouTube video itself:

Verse 1:

I stand before You now
The greatness of Your renown
I've heard of the majesty and wonder of You
King of Heaven, in humility, I bow

Chorus:

As Your love, in wave after wave
Crashes over me, crashes over me
For You are for us, You are not against us
Champion of Heaven, You made a way for all to enter in

Verse 2:

I've heard You calling my name
I've heard the song of love that You sing
So I will let you draw me out beyond the shore
Into Your grace

Bridge:
You make me brave
You make me brave
You call me out beyond the shore into the waves

You make me brave
You make me brave
No fear can hinder now the Love that made a way

Love, Natalie
