Saying No to Doubt & Yes to Purpose

This blog post is birthed out of a word, well a couple, that were given to me back in February this year concerning not counting myself out, speaking into my capabilities and not letting my insecurities about being a woman and black get in the way of the of the voice some people will need. The doubt about my capabilities and the subconscious/ conscious insecurity about myself had hit me head on and I was reduced to tears. (To the person that gave me those words, thanks for making me cry 🤣🤣).

I know that I have so much potential and so much to give, but I doubt and disqualify myself because I don’t think I’m the one, or hope that someone else will do it. I don’t know if this is making sense but if it is, keep reading.

I was allowing my doubt to affect my purpose. And no, this wasn’t 100% new to me but its manifestation was different, though some common factors occur. Doubt prevents you from speaking. Doubt prevents you from going for your dream leadership role. Doubt prevents you from writing that book you’ve had on your heart to write for years. Doubt prevents you from calling out that person who keeps saying hurtful and necessary things at work - “oh I doubt things will change if I say anything”.

But here’s the thing: allowing doubt to manifest gets in the way of fulfilling your purpose. In other words, opening the door and letting doubt fill your house prevents purpose making itself at home.

Let that sink in a bit before you continue to read.

So how do we eliminate doubt? There are different ways we can work towards this and here are a few below.

If you’re a Christian (and even if not) there are loads of Bible verse concerning our ability and identity in Christ who helps us do all things. It’s also important to have people around you who recognize your giftings that can call the gold out of you when you don’t see it. Watch and listen to videos and podcasts that inspire you.

This suggestion can be painful and was : Spend time with yourself.

Why is this painful? Because what this is suggesting is that you face your insecurities. Name the situations, internal chatter and characteristics you feel are disqualifying you from having a life full of purpose. Then COUNTERACT IT with affirmation. If you get stuck on some things, I would be more than happy to help you with an affirmation. Email here or DM me on Instagram.

THIS IS NOT AN OVERNIGHT SUCCESS. This will take time and that’s ok. If you’re looking for a quick fix, you may be looking for a while. This platform exists to help and inspire you to pursue your created and one of the ways is to start getting rid of doubt. It’s a process, just like “Finding Your Voice Again”.
